Professor Arian van Asten
Arian van Asten was appointed to the chair of Forensic Analytical Chemistry at the University of Amsterdam in 2012. His PhD (from that university) was on the subject of thermal field flow fractionation, and won him a prestigious award from the Royal Netherlands Chemistry Society.
Professor van Asten joined the NFI in 2006, where he currently heads the Department of Science, Interdisciplinary Research, Statistics and Knowledge Management. His research interests include the chemical profiling of explosives, comprehensive chromatographic analysis of ignitable liquids, chemical analysis of micro traces and finger marks, mass spectrometric and spectroscopic chemical imaging and chemical analysis at the crime scene including lab-on-a-chip technology.
